FLOATS
Each class will construct its float in the shop area. Each class must submit a design to the Student Council
Sponsor prior to the first work session. Float construction will start on Monday (the week of
Homecoming), and be held after school from 2:45-5:00pm and from 6:30-9:00pm in the shop area of the
school. All students should enter and exit from the rear of the building. Construction will take place
through Thursday evening. Students are not permitted to use school equipment from the Instructional
Technology department and should keep the area clear and clean so that classes may continue during
school. Judging will take place prior to the parade on Friday as floats are placed in the parade line-up.
Class Officers can provide you with more information.


CLASS COMPETITION
There will be class dress-up days throughout the week and the class having the highest percentage of
students dressed up will be the winner. Counts will take place during KLHS-TV. Each teacher may use
his or her own judgment as to whether or not a student ¡°counts¡±. The best-dressed student each day will
receive complimentary dance tickets. Teacher¡¯s who believe that they have a winning student in their 4th
hour class should send them to the commons (in front of the guidance office) during KLHS for judging.
Teachers should take a student count during their 5th hour class each day

Dress-up Days are as follows:
Monday: See¡¯in Stars (P.J. Day)
Tuesday: Count Down to Earth (camouflage wear)
Wednesday: Invasion on Earth (dress like an alien or mis-matched)
Thursday: ¡°Houston we have a problem¡± (fake an injury)
Friday: Blasting Away the Competition Spirit Day (traditional Blue & White attire)

MR. SCHOOL SPIRIT AND MISS PEPPY
Each class will select a candidate for each of these roles. During Homecoming week votes are obtained at
lunch by placing pennies in appropriate jars. Pennies are positive points and all other monies are
negative points. The winners of this competition will be announced at the assembly Friday and will ride
in the Homecoming parade. This year¡¯s nominees are:
Sophomore Class: Caleb Hay & Katja Jones
Junior Class: Aron Wallis & Jessica Tasetano
Senior Class: Brad Daugherty & Bethany McQuerry

KING & QUEEN ELECTIONS
The senior class will select ten semi-finalists. The entire student body will vote for the king and queen
next Tuesday Sept 18th during 5th hour. All 20 candidates will be presented at the assembly, parade,
game, & dance. The top three finalists will be announced at the square after the parade. The King &
Queen will be announced during half-time at the football game Friday night.

ASSEMBLY, PARADE, RALLY AND GAME ¨CFRIDAY
The Friday morning pep rally will begin at approximately 10:30am and will be conducted by the spirit
leaders. Students and organizations will be encouraged to participate in this fun event. The assembly
will last approximately one hour. Student attendance is optional.
Students will be dismissed from school after the rally. BUSSES WILL RUN ON THE THREE HOUR
EARLY RELEASE SCHEDULE (busses leaving LHS at 11:35am)- NO LUNCH WILL BE SERVED ON
FRIDAY. The parade will begin promptly at 12:45. Line-up will begin in the lower student parking lot at
12:00pm. David Chatlos is in charge of all parade-related activities. Student Leadership: Ashleigh
Bartlett. Honored this year as Grand Marshalls are Sam Houston & Miki Edgerton. They have each
served in many many activities which supported student services, scholarship opportunities, and
community service & involvement in the Liberty Community.
Once the parade reaches the square, the pep rally will begin on the courthouse steps.
The top threefinalists for King & Queen will be announced at this time.
The Homecoming football game will be held at 7:00pm at Greene Stadium on the campus of William
Jewell College. During the halftime ceremony, results of the spirit competitions will be announced.
Additionally, the Homecoming court will be introduced and the King & Queen will be crowned.

DANCE
The Homecoming Dance will take place Saturday evening in the main gymnasium at the High School
from 8:30-11:30pm. Dress is semi-formal and students in inappropriate dress will not be admitted. Also
all students and guests attending must have a picture ID to show at the entrance the evening of the
dance. All 10th, 11th, & 12th grade students are welcome to attend and bring one out of school guest.
However the guest must be under 21 years of age. Students & Guests without proper identification will not
be admitted. Students bringing out of town guests must purchase tickets in advance and register guests.
All LHS couples are welcome to purchase tickets at the door the night of the dance. For student
convenience tickets will be sold in advance during all lunch sections Monday-Thursday. Dance Tickets
will not be sold on Friday the week of Homecoming. Advance prices are $6.00 per person. Tickets at the
door will be $10.00 (1) person and $15.00 (2) persons. Reed Portrait Gallery will be taking pictures.
Packages will range from $20.00 to $35.00. Checks should be make payable to RPG or Reed Portrait
Group. Faculty and Staff are encouraged to attend free of charge to this event.

Liberty Senior High School
Dance Information
Any LHS or Academy students (grades 10,11,12) can attend
9th Grade students cannot attend unless they are the guest of a current student as above

Each LHS student can only have one out of school guest and the
guest will be registered when the ticket is purchased

Advanced ticket sales will take place during all lunch sections during the week
of the dance. Sponsors will not leave teaching or counseling responsibilities to
sell tickets during instructional time.

Tickets can also be purchased at the doorthe night of the dance.
All students and guests will be required to have a picture ID in order to attend
the dance and will be required to show it at the door prior to entrance the night
of the dance

One admission per student is permitted during the evening. Once students
leave the dance, they will not be permitted to return

Students must be dressed appropriately (no jeans, shorts, etc) Dress is semiformal

No open drink containers will be permitted in the building during the dance

Two officers will assist the administration with supervision. One will be located
in the parking lot and the other (Officer Corum) will check identification at the door
Students will be admitted to the dance at 8:30pm
and the dance will end at 11:30pm
