Liberty is committed to quality and our quality shows. We are constantly upgrading our teacher skills through in-service training and teacher development programs. Our work in curriculum development and teacher evaluation is considered a model for districts around the state.

For Students:
Classroom/facility construction projects abound in Liberty, as the district grows steadily at a rate of approximately 350 new students each year. At the same time, a different type of construction is going on - a quieter, perhaps more important type of construction - Curriculum Development. Liberty uses a unified, systematic approach to curriculum development that aligns the written, taught, and tested curriculum. This approach results in a cognitive curriculum that provides students with an opportunity to become critical thinkers and problem solvers. An emphasis is placed on demonstrating understanding through district level performance assessments. Liberty's highly skilled teaching staff is continuously involved in district curriculum reform efforts.

Technology is no longer the wave of the future; it is the way we work today. All Liberty students have access to computer labs, multimedia workstations, and internet connections. Dedicated labs support instruction in journalism, math, business, and drafting.

For Teachers:
The Liberty School District believes the best way to positively influence learning - for all students and adults in our district community - is through our data driven and collaborative approach to continuous learning. We believe that schools should be a place of learning for both students and teachers. Our comprehensive approach to staff development ensures that these learning experiences will be relevant to district staff and result in success for our students. Our program is developed and monitored by classroom teachers, and includes development of "in-district" experts on key issues such as assessment, brain-compatible instruction, and technology.

In addition to a comprehensive staff development program, Liberty Schools offers a competitive salary schedule and complete benefit package.

Benefits include:

Board-paid health, dental, vision, and life insurance

For Families:
Children learn more during the early years than any other time in life. How a child learns during those years will affect later development and success in school. Liberty Parents as Teachers program is voluntary and free for expectant parents and parents with children from birth through pre-kindergarten. This program stresses the importance of parents as their child's first and most important teacher and a parent's home as a child's first school house. Parents as Teachers consists of personal visits with a certified parent educator trained in child development who offers tips on ways to encourage learning. Group meetings for parents offer new insights, shared experiences and discussion of topics of interest. Yearly developmental vision and hearing screenings are also offered.

Liberty Preschool is a program for children developmentally delayed in one or more areas of development (motor, cognitive, social, and speech/language skills). The program also serves children that meet criteria for Early Childhood Special Education. Liberty Preschool is for children ages 3-5.

Liberty's Kid's Zone program is an alternative to unsupervised elementary school children before and after school. This program provides supervised, quality, constructive child care before and after school at all elementary schools for children grades K-5. Activities are designed for children and quiet areas are provided for homework time. Kid's Zone also provides full day (6:30 a.m.-6:00 p.m.) programs for students in grades K-5 during teacher in-service days and winter and spring break.

Safety First:
Safety is our school district's number 1 priority. To ensure safety for all staff and students, all schools have a comprehensive crisis plan which includes in-service training and continuous review. Staff members in all buildings have a crisis procedure manual in their classroom. Safety measures include motion detectors, installed at all schools, and security windows, doors, and mirrors installed in all district buildings.
