2009 Professional Development Commissioner's Award Winner
The professional opportunities listed below all provide experiences for teachers and staff that are tailored to address their unique learning needs. Workshop sessions include district and building-level professional development days as well as the following items involving after-school trainings, summer sessions, and outside training options pinpointed by our Professional Development Department. Professional Development at Liberty Public Schools exhibit best learning practices and proven models of professional learning for all educators.
Many after school and summer workshops are offered in the District. Opportunities are provided for teachers to support powerful instruction in the four areas of technology, safety, instruction, and assessment.
*Summer AcademyDistrict teachers have the opportunity to attend professional development workshops during a week-long session at the end of July called "Summer Academy". This optional opportunity provides the focus for the upcoming school year with sessions based upon district initiatives, curriculum, instruction, and technology.
*Liberty’s "Empowering Excellence" Conference
This internal conference is a professional development day held in
mid-February each year. The conference begins with a keynote speaker
followed by a variety of sessions that continue to support the
District’s instructional initiatives.
The Liberty Public School District supports excellence in professional education by offering graduate programs through several universities to provide quality educational graduate level programs for teachers. Liberty Public Schools has created partnerships with several metro-area universities to offer a wide range of learning opportunities for our teachers.
