Substitute Opportunities

As a substitute teacher you are an important part of our team in the Liberty Public School District. The Liberty School District employs substitute teachers to assist in the absence of regular classroom teachers, school nurses, and para-professionals/teachers aides. Please review the information below to answer your questions about substituting in Liberty Schools. Please contact Jill Vochatzer at jvochatzer@liberty.k12.mo.us to answer any questions.

Pay Schedule:

The Board of Education for the Liberty Public School District has set the rate of pay at $95.00 per day for substitute teachers who have at least 60 college hours. The Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources will hire all long-term substitutes.

Requirements:

To be a substitute, you must have at least 60 college credit hours, have a substitute certificate from DESE and be interviewed by the Liberty School District.

Applying: An online application may be completed once the substitute teaching position is posted on School Recruiter

Substitutes must complete the following:

  • Online application
  • Fingerprinting ($52.20 to be paid by the substitute)

If you have not been fingerprinted within the last year and cleared by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, you should schedule fingerprinting 866-522-7067 or http://www.l1enrollment.com. The charge is $52.20 which is due at the time of fingerprinting. Our district number is 024090 and ORI number is M0920320Z.

Substitutes must provide the following:

  • Copy of transcripts
  • DESE Substitute Certificate (To learn how to get this certificate, click here)

Guidelines and Expectations:

The Liberty Public School District uses an automated system called AESOP. Staff members enter absences into the system, which creates an open job assignment. AESOP processes the jobs through a computerized database and, at the defined calling times, calls the substitutes according to their profile to fill the assignments. As a substitute, you must be registered with the system and trained how to use the system.

Once on the substitute list, substitutes are asked to follow these guidelines:

  • Arrange personal schedules to be able to leave home on short notice
  • Notify the Substitute Coordinator of change in address or phone number
  • Notify the Substitute Coordinator if you wish to be removed permanently from the list

The Liberty Public School District has high expectations for substitutes, including punctuality, appropriate behavior, professional dress and confidentiality. Substitutes can expect support from the school staff and administration. See Liberty Public Schools handbooks for more information regarding substitutes:
