Wednesday Late Bus
 
Wednesday late bus information: Starting in Sept., a Wednesday late bus will be available for students. This bus provides a transportation option for students who stay late on Wednesdays for study sessions and/or extra-curricular activities. Students wanting to ride the late bus need to sign up by 9:00 A.M. Tuesday mornings in order to be allowed to ride the late bus for that week.

Web 2.0 Club

Web 2.0 Club meets once a month on Wednesdays:  Sept. 24, Oct, 22nd, Nov 19th, & Dec 17th .Students have the opportunity to learn about new tools found on the web.  Pick up a permission form in the Library. Sponsor - Mrs. Martin

 
Chess Club
Chess Club is an opportunity to learn the moves and strategies of the game of chess. Meetings are held each Wednesday. All interested 6th and 7th graders are invited to attend. Sponsors - Mrs. Emig & Mr. Kelly
 
Fall Play
LMS proudly announces that this year’s Fall Play will be Reader's Theatre: Sideways Stories from Wayside School. Performances will be held at the Liberty Performing Arts Theatre on October 24 & 25. Sponsors for the Fall Play are Mrs. Hinkle, Ms. Leland, and Mr. Lean
 
 
Knowledge Masters
All 6th and 7th grade PEAK students are welcome to activate their thinking skills and join in this fun group activity. This is in preparation for a fall and spring international academic competition that focuses on developing critical thinking skills. Meetings will be held on Mondays. Sponsor - Mrs. Beagle

Are you interested in Scrapbooking???  Come join Miss Canfield and Mrs. Curtis on Thursdays beginning October 25th!  All you need is a scrapbook and some pictures and we will provide the rest.  You can pick up a permission slip from room 312 or the counseling office.  Hope to see you there! TREND
(Turning Resources and Energy in New Directions) - Seventh graders meet to plan and carry out activities promoting a drug free and healthy lifestyle. These activities will be safe and may be of service to others. (ie: mixers, food drive, Red Ribbon Week and Save a Sweetheart Week, etc.) An announcement will let students know when and where meetings will occur. Sponsors - Counseling Staff

If you like to look at pictures and create fun collages for the LMS yearbook, this is the club for you. Sponsors - Mrs. Dimeceli, Mrs. Curtis , Mrs. Taylor
 
 
 
Intramurals
Basketball - (March)
The basketball program is designed to be a fundamental learning experience that introduces skills on shooting, passing, ball handling, offense, and defense. Each day is designed to focus on one of the previously mentioned skills. Each student will have an individual score given based on participation and completion of team and individual efforts during drills and matches. The focus will always be to have fun and learn basketball. Sponsor - Mr. VanEgdom
 
Kickball - (April)
For all boys and girls grades 6 & 7, kickball will run in April. In touch football and kickball, students organize their own teams in round robin tournaments that run Tuesdays and Thursdays. During the competition we emphasize the skills students learn during physical education units, sportsmanship and cooperation. Teams will be notified in advance of their game days. Sponsors - Mr. Wetzel and Mr. Harding
 
Ping Pong - (April-May)
Come learn and have fun with the game of ping-pong! A tournament will be played after a few days of practice. Sponsors - Mr. Erickson
 
 
Soccer - (February)
Soccer will be added to our list of intramural activities this year. Come February please begin watching the announcements for starting dates and times. Sponsor - Mr. Bikoko
 
 
Two Hand Touch Football - (September - November)

For grade 6 & 7 boys and girls, touch football will run from mid-September to mid-November. In touch football and kickball, students organize their own teams in round robin tournaments that run Tuesdays and Thursdays. During the competition we emphasize the skills students learn during physical education units, sportsmanship and cooperation. Teams will be notified in advance of their game days. Sponsors - Mr. Wetzel and Mr. Harding.

 
Volleyball - (October-December)
The volleyball program is designed to be a fundamental learning experience that introduces skills on bumping, setting, serving, ball handling, offense, and defense. Players will work collaboratively on these skills. Each team will play three games. Coaches, referees and scorekeepers will be 9th - 12th grade volunteers from the A+ tutor program. Sponsors - Ms. Canfield
 
Whiffleball - (January-February)
Come join the whiffleball league beginning in early January. We will discuss and practice fundamentals and basic rules associated with whiffleball/baseball. Teams will be established the first day and a tournament schedule will be made available to players. Get a head start for spring baseball/softball leagues with some winter whiffleball practice. Sponsor - Mr. Harding
 
Marathon Teen Club - (All Year - Tues. and Thurs. starting Sept 16th)

Walk/jog/run 26 miles by the end of the semester.  Receive prizes for every 5 miles you complete.
Participants will have the opportunity to take part in 5K walk/runs in Liberty, Zona Rosa, or the Turkey Trot in Parkville.
We will walk/jog/run for ½ hour each Tuesday & Thursday from 3:30- 4:00 pm.
Students will need parents to pick them up by 4:15 pm each day

As other clubs are formed, the new information will be shared with students, staff and parents through daily student announcements and the Explorer mailed home.

Please consider joining one or more of these clubs. They're a GREAT way to meet new friends and learn new things!
