LHS Lady Jays Soccer Repeat as State Champs
In thrilling fashion, the Liberty High School Lady Jays Soccer Team made it back-to-back state championships with a 2-1 overtime victory over Ursaline Academy Saturday night, June 4, 2011, in St. Louis.The victory capped a memorable season in which the Lady Jays posted a 27-3 overall record. Throughout the season, LHS was ranked as high as #1 nationally by the publication ESPN Rise.
Two-time Gatorade State Girls Soccer Player of the Year Shea Groom had a huge weekend at the Final Four as she scored both goals in the championship game while adding two more in the state semifinal, an 8-0 pasting of Springfield Glendale. Groom's goals in the championship game came with only 3 minutes remaining in regulation to tie the game, followed by the game-winning goal with only 1 second left on the overtime clock.

The 2011 senior class leaves with a four-year record of 94-13
For the season, the Lady Jays outscored opponents 147-29
They outsored opponents 29-4 in post-season play
They outscored Final Four opponents 10-1
The championship game will be replayed on Time Warner Cable's Metro Sports (Channel 30 Standard, 310 Digital, 1310 HD) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 7.

LHS Baseball Team Finishes Runner-Up
The Liberty High School Blue Jays Baseball Team also had a strong weekend at the State Final 4. The Blue Jays defeated Ozark on Friday, June 3, to advance to state championship game. Unfortunately, the Jays dropped a 10-5 decision to Francis Howell in the title game Saturday, June 4. Still, though, a great season for Coach Kirk Bragg and his Blue Jays!
