Make Plans to Attend a Coffee with the Community
In an effort to better inform our parents and community on various topics facing the District, Liberty Public Schools will host a series of monthly meetings during the 2011-2012 school year titled "Coffees with the Community".The first Coffee with the Community was held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the District Administration Center. Attendees heard LPS Superintendent Mike Brewer provide a State of the District address. Brewer also answered questions from the audience, many of which were related to the November 8 ballot issue.
Many of the topics for Coffees with the Community have been set for the upcoming year. Topics already selected include District Safety and Security, Bullying, Internet Safety, Early Childhood Education, and many more.
"It is our goal for these monthly meetings to be as informative for our parents and stakeholders as possible," said LPS Director of Communications and Marketing Dallas Ackerman. "We've tried to select topics that will provide them with valuable insight on the many issues that our students face".
While many topics have already been scheduled, several open topic meetings are available in the spring of 2012. Ackerman pointed out that dates have been left unfilled to see what topics may emerge based on feedback in the coming weeks.
Coffees with the Community will take place from 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. and are held at the District Administration Center in Board Room A. Click here for a complete 2011-2012 schedule.
For parents and community members not able to attend the meeting and would like to view them, all meetings will be taped and replayed on Channel 18 and available online at the LPS District website.
