Ridgeview Elementary is Official Leader in Me School

At a special “Leadership Assembly” put on entirely by 3rd grade students at Ridgeview Elementary on Friday, May 20, 2011, the school was recognized and presented a banner as an “official” Leader in Me school. Ridgeview is only one of five schools in the state to lay claim to this distinction.

During the 2010-2011 school year, students at Ridgeview Elementary have been learning about The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by the famous author Stephen Covey. Several school assemblies have taken place throughout the school year demonstrating to audiences what the students have learned. Along with family and friends, many LPS Board members and administrators, including Superintendent Mike Brewer, have attended the assemblies.

“These assemblies are a perfect example of the great things taking place in our district, and specifically Ridgeview Elementary,” said Brewer. “What these students are learning are values that they will take with them for the rest of their lives.”

At the May 20 assembly, representatives from Franklin Covey, the Kauffman Foundation, and neighboring school districts were also in attendance to see first-hand what Ridgeview had accomplished this school year.

“It was an awesome experience to see so many great leaders,” said Franklin Covey Representative Connie Spencer. “There are great things happening at our Leader in Me Schools!”

Liberty Public Schools is proud of the accomplishments of both students and staff at Ridgeview Elementary and look forward to seeing all of these young students lead our next generation!
