Earlier this evening, the Liberty Board of Education accepted the resignation of Dr. Phil Wright, Superintendent of Schools.
The board has asked Mike Brewer, Assistant Superintendent for Support Services, to serve as interim superintendent. Mike has been with the district 20 years.
The board will conduct a nationwide search for the district’s next superintendent and will seek a firm specializing in assisting boards with the identification and selection of superintendents. At this time we cannot give you a time frame on how long the process will take, but we promise an open and transparent process, and we will exercise due diligence in our search for the next leader of the Liberty Public School District.
Dr. Steve Fleming, Assistant Superintendent, Human Resources and Dr. Jim Hammen, Executive Director of Human Resources have been placed on paid administrative leave.
The two positions in human resources will be filled on an interim basis. A plan has been developed, and once that is in place, we will announce the individuals serving in those capacities.
We are facing challenging times; however, we have wonderful employees who are competent, dedicated, and committed to serving the students and families of this great community.
We pledge to earn the renewed confidence of our community by striving to do right things the right way.
