UPDATED INFORMATION
We apologize for any inconvenience the cancellation of school caused families today. We rely on many sources when it comes to weather information and the decision to close school is not taken lightly. The local meteorologists all agree this storm moved through earlier than predicted.
According to the folks at SchoolReach, our automated phone calling provider, the system experienced a glitch this morning. This afternoon SchoolReach officials have assured us that the problem has been fixed. District personnel sent the message to SchoolReach at 5:55 a.m., however, many households didn’t receive the call until much later in the morning. A similar situation happened with the service the district uses to contact local media outlets. According to one of the operators at the service, 50 school closings came in within a matter of minutes. Some stations were late in reporting our school closure. Closing Information was sent through QuickNews at 6:02 a.m., posted on the homepage of the district Web site (www.liberty.k12.mo.us), on our telephone hotline(736-5330) and KLPS Channel 18. We have established several communications methods to get you the information in a timely fashion.
We thank you for your patience and understanding.
