Dr. Julie Moore Named Executive Director of Secondary Education

At the Monday, February 6, 2017 Board of Education study session meeting, the Board appointed Dr. Julie Moore to be the next Executive Director of Secondary Education, effective July 1, 2017.

Dr. Moore is currently the principal at Discovery Middle School, a role she has held since 2009.  She will fulfill her duties as principal at DMS through the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year.

“It is difficult knowing I will not see my family at Discovery Middle School each day,” said Moore.   “They have helped me grow as a leader and as a person, but I am excited to transition into this new role.  I look forward to the opportunity to continue to work with the amazing building and district leaders in LPS.”

Prior to being a principal, Moore was an assistant principal for 5 years and served in the classroom as an English Language Arts Teacher (1996-2003) in both Liberty and Columbia, MO.

Dr. Moore has a Bachelor’s, Master’s, Educational Specialist, and Doctoral degree, all from the University of Missouri – Columbia.

Dr. Moore fills the position vacated by Beth Heide, who was selected as the Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services last month.
