At the regular April 17, 2017, Board of Education meeting, the Board approved the hiring of Mr. Jeff Baird as the new Director of Transportation, effective July 1, 2017.
Mr. Baird has had a successful career in both business and logistics. Past employment has included serving as Vice President of Logistics and Strategic Planning at EB Games, assisting the company through an Initial Public Offering (IPO), and developing distribution capabilities on four continents. He also helped start a third-party logistics company until 2007, when he moved to the area to work for W.W. Grainger as a process manager. While at Grainger, he also took on a ministry role at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Liberty, where he currently serves as an associate pastor.
“We’re excited to have Jeff join us, and I’m confident he’ll be a great fit with the transportation team and prove to be a strong leader for the district,” said Chief Operations Officer Steve Anderson. “Jeff has a unique background and perspective that will translate well to this position. While he has big shoes to fill, I am confident we will continue the great momentum that Ono and his team have been able to gain over the past several years.”
Born in Pennsylvania, and a graduate of Wilkes University, Mr. Baird has a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce and Finance.
He and his wife, Deb, are active in volunteering with non-profit organizations and schools, including LPS’s own Liberty Academy. The Baird’s are proud parents of three adult children and one grandchild.
Mr. Baird will replace current Transportation Director Ono Monachino, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
