District Technology Committee (DTC)

The Liberty Public Schools Technology Committee is composed of teachers, administrators, library/media specialists, technical support personnel, parents, community members, and students. The committee of approximately forty members meets every other month to discuss current issues in planning for the long-range goal to increase student achievement by providing a technology-immersed learning environment.

The committee is divided into focus groups directly reflecting the five Technology Focus Areas defined by DESE. These subcommittees meet at least two times each semester to research, discuss, and implement the Technology Plan’s objectives. The focus groups are:

  • The Integrationists with the responsibility to implement the Instructional Technology Curriculum that integrates technology skills in the core content areas.

  • The Staff Development “Crew” with the responsibility for designing and delivering professional development opportunities for all segments of the Liberty Public School staff and supporting staff use of technology.

  • The School-to-Home Connection Team focusing on equity of access, robust infrastructures, extending the learning day with technology and communicating with and between the district’s constituencies.

The District Technology Committee reviews policy, budget planning, and technical support. This committee makes policy suggestions based on legislative guidelines, prioritizes critical needs in the budgeting process for technology equipment and infrastructure, and provides feedback and recommendations to the technology support department.

Teacher and administrators are appointed/elected to three-year terms on the committee. Teachers are selected at the building level. The Technology Director and Instructional Technology Coordinator co-chair the committee. The committee has three types of members: standing, flexible, and teacher.
